Vanity Furr Dog Grooming & Training Centre are pleased to offer professional dog grooming training courses as an approved trainer provider for  iPET Network.  The training courses are held in a modern salon in Wymondham, Norfolk. Vanity Furr Dog Grooming & Training Centre is situated on the High Street and has great transport links from A11, A47 and Wymondham Train Station is 1 mile. For student who are travelling further afield, there are a couple of local B&B’s to stay at.

Maxine and her team have extensive knowledge within the canine Industry. As a tutor and Assessor wants to pass on her knowledge and understanding to all her students.

Try before you sign up for your course. Come in for the day and get hands on with the dogs, start your learning journey by washing, drying, and brushing dogs. This is a great way to see if would like to sign up. On the day you can ask as many questions as you like and take away all the information you need.

iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management – Qualification Number 603/5945/6

The qualification is designed for Candidates who wish to gain the skills and knowledge to prepare, style and finish a range of dog breeds, understand health and safety in a dog grooming salon, practice business management and gain skills in canine emergency first aid. The course is delivered over a minimum of 30 days practical training with additional theory work to be completed at home.

iPET Network are proud to have developed this NEW qualification in the Animal Care and Veterinary Science sector. Over the period of 30 days at one of our Training Providers, candidates will groom at least 20 dogs to include a minimum of 10 different breeds, covering 6 different coat types but often many more.  There are no pre-requisites to starting the qualification, meaning candidates can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first which can be a huge cost saving to candidates.

Candidates will be trained in practical skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping, styling and nail trimming on a variety of dog breeds.

Uniquely, candidates are continually assessed via practical demonstration and coursework. There is no requirement to sit an formal exam in order to achieve the qualification. This holistic approach has been welcomed by candidates to our Training Provider from across the UK, Ireland and Internationally. iPET Network designed the qualification to have an excellent balance of theoretical and practical learning. Feedback suggests that this qualification takes the pressure out of adult learning and this approach appeals to a wide range of Candidates. Our Training Providers are striving to improve industry standards by ensuring Candidates walk out fully qualified, confident and competent in dog grooming.

The iPET Network Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming and Salon Management will demonstrate to an employer or the general public that candidates have the necessary technical skills and knowledge to successfully groom a range of dog breeds. This is a formal, regulated, nationally recognised qualification that will remain relevant throughout the Candidates career and can only be achieved by reaching the required skill level. It has been designed specifically for those looking to become professional dog groomers or those who already groom dogs (as a hobby or career) but do not currently hold a nationally recognised qualification. This approach and elements are unique to our course syllabus making the qualification a more rounded and robust qualification.

The qualification is designed for Candidates who wish to gain the skills and knowledge to prepare, style and finish a selections of dog breeds, understand health and safety in a dog grooming salon and gain an understanding of heath checking, handling and canine behaviour. The course is delivered over a minimum of 15 days practical training with 2 days theory work, there will be additional theory to be completed at home.

iPET Network are proud to have developed this NEW qualification in the Animal Care and Veterinary Science sector. Over the period of 15 days at one of our Training Providers, candidates will groom at least 10 dogs to include a minimum of 5 different breeds, covering 4 different coat types.  There are no pre-requisites to starting the qualification, meaning candidates can join at level 3 without having completed a lower level (level 2) course first.

Candidates will be trained in practical skills such as prepping, bathing, scissoring, clipping, styling and nail trimming on a selection of dog breeds.

The iPET Network Level 3 Award in Hand Stripping is aimed at Candidates who wish to gain the skills and knowledge to hand strip a range of breeds and styles whilst carrying out safe handling techniques.

This qualification is a balance of theoretical and practical learning to ensure that vocational skills lead study with underpinned knowledge developed throughout. During the qualification you will have hands-on experience and practice, in choosing to style a wire or silky coated breed.

The qualification will take you through the theory of wire and silk coated breeds and the different UK Kennel Club breed groups whilst you learn the basics of canine coat growth, different hand stripping methods, techniques and tools to use and their benefits. The qualification also covers the factors that affect Hand Stripping and after Hand Stripping care.

iPET Network Level 2 Award in First Aid for Dogs – Qualification Number 610/3440/X (link to qualification on Ofqual register)

The iPET Network Level 2 Award in First Aid for Dogs is an ideal starter qualification for dog owners and animal care students who want to be prepared should a dog under their care need emergency treatment. The qualification is designed to introduce the basic theory concepts of the most commonly faced first aid scenarios to include wounds, choking, poisoning, seizures, heat-related illness and water inhalation. This qualification provides an introduction to the theoretical knowledge required to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies and allows the opportunity to progress to study canine first aid at Level 3.

This qualification has been designed to enable Candidates to:

  • Define the objectives of first aid and know how to classify different types of emergencies.
  • Know how to safely handle dogs in emergency situations.
  • Understand how to complete a primary survey of the dog including the theory of how to take temperature, pulse and respiration rate.
  • Know and understand the theory of how to conduct CPR, abdominal thrusts and the recovery position.
  • Identify the signs and appropriate first aid management of wounds, bleeding and fractures including principles of applying bandages.
  • Identify the signs and appropriate first aid treatment of heat-related illness (hyperthermia), water inhalation, convulsions, bloat and poisoning.  
  • List the requirements and contents of an emergency first aid kit for dogs.
